TEXTE 2 : STUDENT ACOMMODATION

Many students away from home find difficulty in finding suitable accommodation. Hostel are often full, flats too expensive, bed-sitting rooms too lonely. One answer is to share a flat with three or four other students. Rent and living expenses are obviously less than when living on one's own, and there's not much chance of being lonely. Before entering into any such arrangement, however, certain things must be agreed: who is going to be responsible for seeing the rent and household bills are paid? How much are you all going to contribute? Is everyone going to buy their own food? Do their own cooking? What about the cleaning, the washing and entertaining your personal friends? All these things have to be settled between you and your flatmates beforehand.

De nombreux étudiants loin de chez eux ont du mal à trouver des hébergements. Les auberges sont souvent pleines, les appartements trop chers,chambres-salon trop solitaires. Une réponse est de partager un appartement avec trois ou quatre autres étudiants. Le loyer et les frais de subsistance sont évidemment moins que lorsqu'on vit seul, et il n'y a pas beaucoup de chance d'être seul. Avant de conclure un tel arrangement, cependant, certaines choses doivent être convenues : qui va être responsable de voir le loyer et les factures du ménage sont payés? Combien allez-vous tous contribuer ? Est-ce que tout le monde va acheter leur propre nourriture ? Faire sa propre cuisine ? Qu'en est-il du nettoyage, le lavage et divertir vos amis personnels? Toutes ces choses doivent être réglées entre vous et vos colocataires préalablement.
