TEXTE 1 : ESTATE AGENT

My friend Mrs Moon tells me you are the most helpful estate agent in Sinchester, so I am writing to you immediately for assistance. The trouble is I'm looking for a furnished flat for myself, my parrot and my cat Tiger, and it's very difficult to find one that suits me. I want a furnished flat, self contained, with three bedrooms,one for me, one for Polly, and one for Tiger. Polly and Tiger have always had separate rooms because their life-style is so different. Tiger likes a room with a good view of the garden and trees. He likes to sit on the window sill or in the window box if there is one. He is very fond of bird-watching. And then of course he likes going out at night, so he's really best in a room with sash windows. That way I leave the window open a little at the top and he scrambles up the frame and squeezes in when he comes home. It's also absolutely essential for his room to have central heating because in the winter he always sleeps on top of the radiator.

It's different with Polly. I've never kept her in a cage so it has to be a large room where she can fly about wherever she likes. She prefers French Windows, not sash. She doesn't go out much but she likes to swing on the handle of the French windows when she's bored. A basin with hot and cold water appeals to her, too. She is very clever.

She has learnt how to turn the cold water tap on and off with her beak and she has a little drink now and again when she's thirsty. And another thing, there must be a fitted carpet in Polly's room. I'm afraid she's very untidy eater and if there are bare boards, her seed drops down between the cracks and that makes her very irritable and encourages her to use bad language.

I hope you can offer me something suitable as soon as possible. My present landlady has asked me to find other accommodation without delay as my neighbours in the flat above have been persistently complaining about Tiger and poor Poly. They are most unpleasant people.

Mon amie Mme Moon me dit que vous êtes l'agent immobilier le plus utile à Sinchester, je vous écris donc immédiatement pour obtenir de l'aide. Le problème c'est que je cherche un appartement meublé pour moi, mon perroquet et mon chat Tigre, et c'est très difficile à trouver celui qui me convient. Je veux un appartement meublé, indépendant, avec trois chambres, une pour moi, une pour Polly et une pour Tiger. Polly et Tiger ont toujours eu des chambres séparées parce que leur style de vie est si différent. Tiger aime une chambre avec une belle vue du jardin et des arbres. Il aime s'asseoir sur le rebord de la fenêtre ou dans la boîte à fenêtre s'il y en a une. Il aime beaucoup l'observation des oiseaux. Et puis bien sûr il aime sortir le soir, donc il est vraiment mieux dans une pièce avec des fenêtres à guillotine. De cette façon je laisse la fenêtre ouverte un peu en haut et il grimpe le cadre et se serre quand il rentre à la maison. C'est aussi absolument indispensable pour que sa chambre ait le chauffage central car pendant l'hiver, il dort toujours sur le radiateur.

C'est différent avec Polly. Je ne l'ai jamais gardée dans une cage alors ça doit être une grande pièce où elle peut voler partout où elle aime. Elle préfère les fenêtres françaises, pas les châssis. elle ne sort pas beaucoup mais elle aime se balancer sur la poignée des portes-fenêtres quand elle s'ennuie. Un bassin d'eau chaude et froide la séduit, trop. Elle est très intelligente.

Elle a appris à ouvrir et fermer le robinet d'eau froide avec son bec et elle boit un peu de temps en temps quand elle a soif. Et autre chose, il doit y avoir une moquette dans la chambre de Polly. J'ai peur qu'elle soit très désordonnée et s’il y a des planches nues, sa semence tombe entre les fissures et cela la rend très irritable et l'encourage à utiliser mauvaise langue.

J'espère que vous pourrez m'offrir quelque chose de convenable dès que possible.Ma logeuse actuelle m'a demandé de trouver un autre logement sans tarder car mes voisins de l'appartement du dessus ont été se plaindre constamment de Tiger et du pauvre Poly. Ce sont des gens des plus désagréables.
